In 1954 Norman and Alice Pulvermacher bought the Princeton Frozen Locker Service across from the current Pulvermacher Enterprises building. Many of the customers to the frozen locker service were farmers who would sell some of their beef or hog, but then have more meat than they could store in a home freezer. So the farmers would rent frozen lockers to handle the overflow of meat. Making sausage and curing hams and bacon were also services of the Princeton Frozen Locker.
In 1956, Princeton Frozen Locker Service also got into the ice business by buying out Adolph Herman's on Farmer Street. Norm would truck ice block from East Ice and Cold Storage in Fond du Lac. Norm began doing his own refrigeration repairs due to high cost of these types of repairs. As the business began to evolve and grow, all fifteen Pulvermacher children eventually began working for the company.
Around 1960 Norm bought his first ice cube maker. A building was built on the roof of the frozen cold storage area. The ice dropped down through a chute into the cold space and into an ice bin. Here the ice was bagged by the Pulvermacher children.
The refrigeration business continued to grow and soon Denis the oldest son, began repairing refrigerators brought into the shop. In the '70s the business also got into servicing farm milk tanks. Shortly after this, Princeton Frozen Locker Service bought out Wedell Electric's inventory and truck.
In 1977 with so many different businesses, the name became Pulvermacher Enterprises, Inc. and overtime the business has went farther into the refrigeration amd electrical repair. Making the business what it is today.
Today, four brothers, Denis, Glen, Ernie and Dale with some of their children now service a 60 mile radius. Mostly assisting commercial properties with projects and control wiring in over 50 Kwik trip stores, Condon Oil, and their Subways and A&W's, school districts, Ripon College and area bars and restraunts.
